Community and national news, events and action.

If you have any news that you would like published here, please contact Carol at the DRC. Any suggestions that you may have to improve this page, or our site, are welcomed.

As a special acknowledgment of the valuable work small support groups undertake in our Community, we are pleased to be able to offer space on our site to promote the service you provide. Please contact Carol who will design your page with your input. Please note, this is free only to support groups who do not employ any paid staff and are run purely by volunteers. We can provide a page for larger agencies, price to be negotiated. We will also post a link to any existing Community Organisation sites if requested.

:: OPPORTUNITIES ::

WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP GROUP

A women's peer support group is being planned for women in leadership roles in Southland.

It is recognised that women in management roles deal with their workloads and have a management style that is different to their male counterparts. Managers also spend a great deal of time mentoring and supporting their staff, ensuring that sound training and development plans are in place for their Teams, often at the expense of their own development goals.

The purpose of the Group is to provide a forum for women with an opportunity to share expertise, have development needs met, assist in career planning as well as day to day managements issues and have the opportunity to discuss issues causing concern in a confidential and safe environment.

Currently in the planning stage, we would like to hear from any women leaders who would be interested in participating. We envisage that costs will be minimal.

For further information please email Carol Wood or call on 03 2145000.
